Why We Needed A New Front Door
We have installed new front doors and I wanted to show them off. First, let me tell you of the “incident” and why we had to have them replaced. Here is a before shot of our front door around Thanksgiving:
And a wider shot:
Pretty right? We thought so when we bought the house. We have refinished them and re-stained them and are pretty happy with them until…….
My ETSY store was very busy during the holiday’s and we had USPS, Fed-ex, and UPS coming several times a day to pickup orders and to receive supplies. Combine that with our very protective 125# Bouvier Des Flandres, and this is what happened:
He tried to take out our poor UPS guy and punched through the glass in the front door. He even cut his nose! Not too bad though, it healed without stitches in a couple weeks. So while our new doors we designed were on order (nothing is standard in a 30 year old home), my husband duct-taped our window. I know….we look like rednecks. That did not stop our puppy from continuing to break out more and more glass every day. Here’s our little fella:
Here are our new doors!
These doors are iron, and the rain glass is 5/8″ thick!!! That should hold the beast in. Some have security doors to keep people out, we have strong doors to keep the dog in!!!
We love fleur de lis from our travel to Italy and France. A really nice feature is the glass opens and we have screens to keep the insects out, but the breeze in!
Here’s another look at the doors:
Another look at the reason for the doors:
