I am hoping everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I have just wrapped up a very successful Christmas Season with my on-line shops this year. I am blessed by wonderful customers who are supportive of the Handmade movement. My ETSY shop broke new records and I just launched my new shop on Amazon Handmade.
Buying Handmade is really hot right now and it is wonderful for artisans and makers to have more and more options to sell our creations. Establishing that relationship between the buyer and the person who made the product is even more important than ever. It’s what I really enjoy about what I do.
Several of my customer’s have shared photo’s of the items they have purchased in their own homes. I treasure these photos.
If you follow me on my social media, you may know that I was contacted by an organization called Extreme Christmas Makeover. They renovate a deserving family’s home and decorate it for Christmas. Home Decor, Christmas…right up my alley. I donated one of my silver “Jingle” pillows. The coordinator said this was inspiration for their theme and the pillow would go on the homeowner’s bed. I also made a matching “Jingle” Christmas Tree skirt and coordinating Tree Topper. It was featured on many local newscasts. You can see one of them here:
It’s not often I am able to see how my product impacts others, but this was truly a blessing.
This Christmas Season kept me hopping. Here is a pic of the orders for December.
Part of a day’s shipping, staged for packaging
I could not have pulled this off without amazing helpers. I was able to add more to our crew this year as well.
This is the third Christmas Season Chris has been with me. She helps me with just about every step of production. Chris is an amazing person. Not only is she a wonderful assistant, she is also a Breast Cancer Survivor. When she isn’t working with The Burlap Cottage®, she is also a handy woman. If you have seen the posts of my kitchen renovation, she did our backsplash!
Elizabeth has been with me for two Christmas Seasons now and knows her way around much of the production process. She is meticulous in her work and also helps with quality control. When she isn’t working with The Burlap Cottage®, she is a graduate student. Elizabeth also used to babysit my kids when they were little, so I have every confidence in her!
Diana was in charge of shipping and quality control. I remember meeting Diana in MOPS when our kids were babies. A keen eye for detail, she makes sure the product is ready for shipment.
These are just three weeks of my Amazon orders. Etsy orders are on the other wall and the stack is even bigger!
Big shipping day! Many thanks to my customers, helpers and my family, as this Christmas Season Comes to a successful end. Looking forward to 2016 and all that is in store for The Burlap Cottage®
